I stumbled upon SUNA 4 in April 2011 by chance while looking at Carlos Montes Alcala’s Akabola Music blog for an entirely different reason. He had posted a small selection of benga singles yet to figure in this discography. Here’s one of them - and you can visit Akabola Music to download it and several others.

The band doesn’t so far feature anywhere else in this discography  and the label doesn’t give many clues about its origins. I suspect the catalogue number may point to the label being from Suna, a small town near Migori in Nyanza Province, not far from the Tanzanian border.

It is possible that Prince Jully, who gets a songwriting credit here, may be the same person as Jully Okon’go, who appears on records by another Luo band, Orch Tel Tel.
